Can anyone recommend a neighborhood near Boca/Delray that is family oriented? We recently looked at properties there and I was disappointed that I didn't see one child playing outside when we looked at houses. We are interested in a a friendly community (I know everyone isn't friendly) good school system and activities/things to do for kids. Thanks in advance for your responses

Might want to redo this posting and say Boca/Delray in the subject. WPB is crime-town and quite different for Boca.

Most of the Central Boca communities have a ton of kids..however you wont see them...The summer most of the kids are away in sleep away camp, and when school starts and its still HOT outside they are Inside..I have a Sophmore in HS and a daughter in 5th grade and never do or did we ever see kids outside once we left Up North..We lived in NC and never saw kids outside either..so you never knew who or how many kids lived there...Its not just here...I know when my friends looked in Delray they said the same thing but later found out there were a ton of kids...What communities are you looking at?

Thanks for your reply. We have looked in Parkton, Wellington (too far) Del Ray, and Boca. Interestingly, my husband also received a job offer in Tampa, but I don't know the area and would be hesitant to move there based on things I have read on this forum. We are both professsionals, live in Maryland currently, but love Fla. We love the beaches, and the thought of being able to do things outside with our children year round. We are both in professions where we can work anywhere. I would like to live in a friendly, family oriented community. Any suggestions you have to offer are greatly appreciated!

WE love boca and we love the schools..My kids have friends and have made friends in School...I wouldnt change where we choose to live as far as location and Towns...Your kids will make friends in school..and honestly most of these kids dont hang in the development they go to others where their friends live..lol

Good Luck

So...are there any particular neighborhoods that are good to focus on? I, too, am looking at a job opportunity in Delray Beach and am trying to figure out a good, family-friendly, fun affordable neighborhood with good schools.

I briefly drove around Boca, but have also heard to look at Lake Worth, Wellington, PBG, and even a commute from Jupiter.

?????

Jupiter to Delray is a bit far to drive everyday...if schools are a priority Id check out the PBC school district website on the schools...you also want to look at parent reviews we arent a Numbers kind of people so the test scores were irrelevant...We choose boca for the schools as we were looking in Wellington and was going to look in Jupiter however my dh's job he couldnt do that commute...go to greatschools.net and Palm Beach County School District Site..as far as neighborhood's it depends on what your price range is...
