It's one of the most historical, it's very nice, luxurious and famous. Whether or not it's the nicest, is up to what you desire.

I have never stayed there, but used to go hang out at one of their bars in the before time. Now it just feels like they don't want outside customers coming in, only those that are staying there, or that have a reservation. So I don't go anymore. The before time is pre 9/11

Top ten for FL. You also have the Boca Raton Resort and Club, Biltmore (Coral Gables), numerous Ritz Carltons/Four Seasons, Doral, etc.

There is also a Westin Hotel in Fort Lauderdale....that is VERY luxurious.

Never been inside a room at the breakers, but I used to go there for the beach, and we always went there for school trips as kids. Very nice grounds, nice history, but never been a fan of the general attitude of most people who live in / frequent the area.
