Are there any neighborhoods that are walking distance to Delray Beach? I am looking for a home in a neighborhood where I can walk to the beach. I don't want to live in a condo or a gated golf community. I am looking for a Nantucket vibe for the home and surrounding homes. Does such a thing exist in Delray?

No. Anything south of Jupiter is pretty much overbuilt. Though I am not an expert being the Floridian least likely to care about going to the beach, I'm a landlubber. Quieter beach areas are Jupiter and north of there, though the quieter the beach the less populated the area. Hobe Sound, Stuart (hutchinson island) then up to port St Lucie and Ft Pierce. You'll find places where condos have not yet taken over. Also, the closer to the beach, the more expensive. There are a few mobile home communities that survived the housing boom, but not many. The last thing I would expect to find in Delray is a Nantucket vibe.

I drove up and down A1A in Jupiter and Juno and there was nothing but gated condos across the street from the beach. In Delray there were neighorboods with free standing homes across the street from the beach. It reminded me of Spring Lake, NJ. Was wondering, which streets I should focus on? Any Delray experts in here?

Walkable.... yes... a bit of a walk, but a walk nonetheless. Atlantic Avenue will run right into the beach, so focus on east of about Swinton, a few blocks north and south of Atlantic. It's generally a historic area.

(Re: Jupiter/Juno - there are a couple of single family developments sandwhiched between the condo and townhouse communities).

There are plenty of homes just depends on the price range you are looking in. Most of what you'll find is over a million, but there are a few from 500-1m.
There are some pretty good values in the Jupiter area in walking distance to the beach.
