No, I think the suggestion was sarcasm, implying moving to Alabama or Mississippi would be a place where less blacks would be. Which isn't the case.

I agree the suggestion was sarcasm; 1. One to get someone who is obviously very biggoted to move someplace but here. 2. If they do - oh gee you mean there are more blacks in Alabama and Mississippi - hmmm; who knew.

Either way - it really doesn't matter; just a pity that people are STILL not accepted based on who they are, but rather are judged by the color of their skin.

30 years ago when living in MI; I worked at Eastern Michigan University; my immediate superviser was a black man, also in our office was a black women. I didn't consider either one of them as black, just like I didn't consider the white people in the office as white. They were Mel and Mary.

One afternoon; I was invited to a nice restaraunt for lunch by the boss. I never thought twice about accepting. But I still remember the stares, I was being judged; I was a white women with a black man.

The OP asked a valid question, he just did not state it well.

Someone can simply research a specific area's demographics ranging from race, income, education, etc.

I hear people ask questions like this all the time. It's a fact minorities commit the most crimes, live in lower income areas, etc. My statement is not racist, it's realist.

I work in the finance business, and the major lenders will not issue such reports, but Chase Bank for example has a 41% credit default rate with minorities vs. less than 6% among whites. Only 7.4% of Chase's business comes from minorities but results most of their losses.

When I'm looking at real estate, restaurants, etc, I have the same questions. There is a reason people pay large amounts to be members of a country club and it's because that's the price one must pay to keep others out. I don't want to spend $50,000 a year to hangout somewhere, it's just what it costs to avoid the people I want to avoid.

F-NYTAXES,

Although I 100% agree with your comment, it is politically incorrect to come on a message board and blatantly ask if there is a large black population in a certain area. If he would have asked what the crime was like in west palm beach, that would have been a better way of asking it.

When ever you watch a black comic they will always comment about "white people" but if a white comic just mentions the phrase "black people" then he is considered a racist. If someone started a post that said "Are there a lot of white people in west palm beach" nobody would have even thought about racism and would have provided informative feedback.

I am not racist at all, I grew up in brooklyn and my name growing up was white boy, because all my friends were spanish or black.

I am not concerned at all what color my neighbor is, if he is a good person then he can be purple for all I care. White people need to stop being so worried about saying "black people", why not? black people refer to us as "white people" we are all people, no black person has ever referred to me as a european american. I hate having to chose my words wisely just because someone might get offended. F--Doublestandards and F--NYTaxes as well...they are the reason why I established myself as a FL resident anyway.

Demographics are available on the main CD site. The OP was a troll, IMO.

YOU ARE RIGHT, HE DID NOT ASK A PROPER QUESTION, AND I COULD HAVE RESPONDED BY SAYING; ABSOLUTELY THERE ARE ALOT OF DARKIES IN WEST PALM BEACH. What would that have made me? I am sure MANY would have been appalled at such a rasict response! I am not a rasict so I would have NEVER responded in that manner. However because the way the question was phrased, I responded in a manner which I believe was appropriate and got the point across that the OP asking something in a manner that was offensive.

For the most part this site and similiar sites try very hard to give people honest answers to honest questions. When people have asked about safety of a certain area, people respond accordingly, when people ask about crime or specific things they desire - people take time to answer in some cases the take time to research the question in order to give complete and accurate information.

I am so passed all of this, upon first glance, I did not think of this at all. Wow! I don't think there is anything wrong with a direct question, but to ask it in this manner is insulting.

Why not just say "I'm a (what ever, race, creed, ethnic group you belong to) and I would like to not in an all black/brown neighborhood. Do you have suggestions? I don't want to live in an all anything neighborhood and there shouldn't be a problem with that. But asking the question in such an ignorant form...well it doesn't say much to your character. Good luck on your search, seems like you would be a wonderful neighbor!

I'm with you on this one - just someone who wanted to see if he could get a rise out of people and obviously doing what they set out to do. For all we know the OP could be a person of color just wanting to rile people up or a very IGNORANT ASS!
