We are looking at visiting the Weston area in the fall. We drove through the town on our return trip to NC and stumbled across the Asylum and would like to do a long weekend trip.

Other than the Asylum, what else can we plan to do or see in the area?

THANKS

You all should check out the lake

Stonewall Jackson Lake/state park/ resort

The resort there is nice, with a couple very classy resturants.

If your going to stay here, the lake offers the campgroup, cabin rentals, or of course the Resort itself.West Virginia Resorts: Stonewall Jackson Resort Roanoke WV Morgantown Charleston Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Ohio Luxury Vacations Hotels Golf Course Packages Spas Suites Rooms Lodging Conferences Centers Meetings Romantic Getaways Family Weddings Destin

When are you planing on visiting because one weekend in the fall, There is a huge festival called Jubilee Jackson's Mill Jubilee 2010 - September 3rd, 4th, 5th - Home

It is a large event that showcases WV, and mountain living. When I went last year there was thousands of people and a ton to do I Love it

Also that weekend is a WVU gameLOL vs Coastal Carolina

If you don't mind taking a little drive, The towns of Buckhannon and Elkins are within a reasonable distance. Both offer their own culture and history

I hope you and your family decide on visiting Your Welcome anytime---LOL

We did drive through Buckhannon AND Elkins--loved them both.

We will be camping in our tt. The Jubilee sounds like a great time. We are sure WV will require a few wekend trips. And whats with those Seneca Rocks? They are wonderful too....

They're going to close the hiking trail up Seneca Rocks shortly; it will be closed until next Spring or Summer while they rebuild the trail.

Why are all these places never talked about? My adventures in WV were limited to Hawk's Nest, The New River Gorge Bridge and Fayetteville white water rafting.

The east sid eof the state must be a secret destination that only a few know about?

The US-219 corridor, from Blackwater Falls, Dolly Sods, and Canaan Valley in the north through Cass, Watoga and Droop in the middle, all the way down to Pipestem near Princeton... you haven't truly seen Wild, Wonderful West Virginia until you've spent a few vacations along this stretch of mostly two-lane highway.

It is, and it's a shame no one knows about it

The Real Good Stuff is in the Eastern Panhandle, and that is where the highest points in the state are. The hills become Mountains, and the views are breathtaking

Dolly Sods- is a high Mountain that boasts great views and is home to plants only found there and in Canada's north

Spruce Knob- the highest Mountain in WV

The South Branch of the Potomac River

Lost World, Senneca, ect---Caverns

Cannan Valley- Highest valley east of the Mississippi

Snowshoe Resort, Cass Railroad, Greenbank Observatory, The Greenbrier Resort, Glade Springs Resort, Seneca Rocks, and so much more
