In my experience that's how you have to live if you want to keep your job. I don't think any job is worth it. And if you get fired or forced to quit because they make your life miserable, there isn't much you can do. Sure, you can file a complaint if you don't mind having your personal life drug through the media if you work in a high profile company or a state job.
Ehh, that is not how anyone should have to live, and I wont. Like you said about dragging my personal life through the media, etc. I'd have no problem with that. I have nothing to hide, call it my hardheadedness but I'm not going to live submissively to anyone in general. There is current legislation right now with WV delegates and state senators to add age, disability, and sexual orientation to a bill that would make it illegal to fire anyone for those reasons. I mean, its the right to work and be yourself, its not gay marriage. (gasp) ha ha
By say having a picture of your partner and you on your desk, or taking time off of work to care for them if they are ill? Or sitting silent when everyone else is talking about significant others? Is this how gays and lesbians are supposed to live? Submissive to heterosexuals?
I don't consider those things nutty leftwing behavior. You'll keep your job if you have your partner on your desk or take time off -- as long as you are a good worker who makes money for the boss.
But if you start flaunting stuff or behave in a flaming manner, and be an embarrassment to your boss or your company, you can and should be fired. The workplace is not appropriate for that. Just keep it cool and normal.

I dunno. Having his partner ON his desk might cross the lines of professional boundaries. Bringing my BF to work with a rose in his teeth was a big no no. Maybe just a photo?

*puts on a boxing glove*
Keep in mind, EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE that not everyone has the same demeanor, tone and inflection in the voice, and just because they are gay and they actually OMG act gay, that is their every right. Where does it say in our constitution that everyone should strive to act white and and as masculine as possible. That is BS! Flaming???? This is typical from nutty rightwing behavior.
A new group formed to promote fairness in WV. I heard in on the news today.
I heard about that group just yesterday on the Marshall Parthenon's website. The gay rights controversy has generated the most response of any article I've ever seen on their website. Its quickly becoming a separation of generational perceptions and sensitivity.
If WV is anything like KY, they can fire you for any d**n thing they want do. Unless you can pass some sort of "law" that prevents people from firing you because they don't like you, not much point here....
In an historic vote, the West Virginia Senate just passed Senate Bill 238 banning discrimination in employment and housing based on sexual orientation. On to the house.
This is the b/s I've had to deal with my whole life. Can you imagine (for heterosexual people) going through, listening to, and having to deal with this ignorance?
