There is no Wheeling freeway connection and never will be. It is in a populated area of the state, is full of natiral resources, and such a move would benefit all of WV. For that reason they will never build it. Only of Wheeling were unimportant in southern WV would it get new infrastructure.

Subway is irrevelant to WV state funding.

There would be far more benefits to the state to complete I-68. Industrial jobs pay a whole lot more than service sector tourism jobs, and there is growth in the area involved.

That is very true. There are a lot of high income folks in the EP who work in DC, but that has not translated into wealth for the region per se. This gas development will create a lot of wealth in the area.
