New technology can often be a bit difficult to master, but Beckley officials shared step-by-step instructions with The Register-Herald for the new Pay and Display meters in two uptown parking lots.
The lots, Jim Word Memorial Park and the Leslie C. Gates surface lot (near the Beckley Intermodal Gateway), are equipped with Pay and Display meters, which allow users to pay for parking with credit or debit cards, dollar bills and coins.
Rates are 25 cents for every 15 minutes (or $1 per hour) at the Jim Word parking lot, and rates are 50 cents per hour at the surface lot.
Bill Kelly, director of information technology, said it’s important to note that these meters do not dispense change, nor do they give refunds, so make sure when using coins or dollar bills to use the correct amount.
