That song means people who remember growing up there and remember growing up with their friends. "All my memories gather round her". I'm on the phone with a friend right now, gotta go.

The songs means whatever you want it to mean. John Denver sang it loud and proud and he didn't grow up in WV either.
Anyway, VEC101, thanks for singing with me!
Just let it go. When you move to the mountains alone, it can be a trying thing. But this isn't the place to vent it. I know of an elderly person who lived in the sticks years ago, and the lady accoss the street from her who's husband died, would walk out onto her porch reglulary and scream at the top of her lungs because she was so lonely. Her husband passed away and her kids moved away and didn't visit often.

That's what you're reminding me of. Except now there's an internet so you don't need your porch. It makes no sense that you won't drop it. I can gurantee if you stop posting the insults I won't be the one here keeping it going.

Excuse me? I am not trolling your posts, I only remarked to ONE post of yours, so don't get it twisted. You don't sound like a WVirginian to me at all. Matter of fact, you remind me of the rude and obnoxious New Jerseyans that I grew up with.
I have lived and worked in the NYC area for 15 years. Reminds me of when I first moved to the area. I was from West Virginia, but had been living in Ohio prior to moving to NY. There was a guy from NJ working with me who said "we're pretty sure there is civilization in Ohio, but we're not so sure about West Virginia". I knew he lived in NJ, so I responded, "maybe, but one thing we know for sure is there isn't any in New Jersey". I got him real good, and he left me alone after that. That's how you have to deal with those guys... give it right back to them. They love to "bust chops", but can't take it themselves.
I'm relocating back to WV in retirement for the much higher quality of life found in the Morgantown area.
