We have been over for an 'awareness' trip and saw a great development called Half Moon Bay at Croton. It looks fabulous but we have never lived so close to the water. has anyone lived here ?? and downside ?? the small shopping area seems to be functional enough. How is the town in the winter though... the sun was shining today and it looked great. Is there anywhere else we will get this kind of waterside development ??
I have lived at HMB for 22 plus years. I can answer almost any question... too much to go into
I love it there... there are 278 units. two pools, tennis, jitney to trains..5 minutes away.. two club houses... 120 units built in 1987 the others are newer built in 2003 and 2004...
all sizes... ranging from high 300K''s to 1.6M...
walk to village, good schools.. etc. etc..
I never lived in Half Moon Bay but I did live directly off of the Hudson for 3 years. I found it to be delightful during the warm weather but the dead of winter was pretty tough. The strong winds made it feel much cooler than it actually was. When the temperature was in the low 30's it felt more like teens. Still, if the opportunity came up, I would be glad to move back to the river front.
Fyrisle, is that anywhere on the Hudson? Inland Croton? What about the LI Sound towns vs. Scarsdale, for example? Cold is bad. We want to be where it is warmest in the winter.

Bodies of water almost always moderate temperatures in areas immediately adjacent - all other things equal slightly warmer in winter, slightly cooler in summer. However, humidity can also be greater, and that makes it feel hotter in summer and cooler in winter.
If you want warmest in winter the central Bronx or Mt Vernon would be good choices. Both are highly urban areas so they absorb heat and they're both farthest from the humid waters of the LI sound and Hudson.
Central Bronx or Mt. Vernon? I'll get a pair of long johns!
