My family and I are considering moving to Chappaqua or Briarcliff. I commute on metro north to Grand Central anywhere from 1-3 days per week. Does anyone know
1) what the parking scene is like at the Chappaqua train station? any crazy waiting lists?
2) what people do to get to metro north in Briarcliff Manor as there does not appear to be a stop?
I take the train from Briarcliff, the station is actually called Scarborough. The train station is good, no waiting list. They implemented a valet parking system a few years ago which is included in the price of an annual pass -which was $550 last year. This pretty much guarantees you can always find either a self park or valet spot.
If you are in the village or town for Chappaqua, you are fine. It's when you aren't that you could potentially have a problem. Non-resident parking goes into a lottery every year, so once you have a permit you aren't guaranteed one again the next year. Right now it's not a problem since so many are out of work, but it definitely has been a problem in past years - it was enough to make us not consider any homes up there that weren't in the village or town (i.e some were in Mt. Pleasant or Mt. Kisco) but ultimately we choose to stay down here anyway.
