My husband and I are planning to move from the city to Westchester. One of the towns we've been researching is Croton on Hudson. We like what we've seen, but we have one concern: we have two young children (3 years and 8 months) and according to the town trail map Temple Israel of North Westchester is situated almost directly under Con Edison's major power lines. We are fairly active and would likely enroll our children in the Temple preschool. Should we be concerned or consider other towns with a similar commute? Thank you for your input.

You shouldn't be worried about the powerlines. See this.

Croton is a fine choice for Jews (of the non-Orthodox variety). Not everyone will go to the synagogue in their town though, so if you are really that worried about powerlines you can just drive another 10 minutes to a different one.

It might be worth asking the Rabbi about it. I mean, he's probably not going to tell you its dangerous, but he may have some more info that could reassre you.

I'd be more concerned with proximity to indian Point.
