Just some Transit ideas I thought up to solve the ever increasing traffic madness...the I-287 needs to lines to handle the demand...from county and Interstate traffic.

Very nice. I lived for years in Switzerland where an actual, real, functioning light rail system supplemented the main rail lines. Ditto Germany. Wonderful! They're far ahead of us - or rather we just gave up or never really tried.

Anyway, since we're dreaming, there are missing links across Westchester, say between Peekskill <==> Katonah along Rt 35. This should be extended on to Ridgefield. Add another link running from New Rochelle <==> Mt Vernon <==> Yonkers more or less parallel to Cross Country Pkwy.

Obviously there should also be a connection under the LI Sound between the hub at Port Chester and the LIRR in Oyster Bay. The people on Long Island won't feel as trapped. And while we're at it, extend respective NYC subway lines north to Yonkers, Mt Vernon and New Rochelle.

Finally, why not continue a line on I-84 from Brewster to Stewart Airport? Grades are steep, but in Switzerland they just dig tunnels.

Yes they are , we have a problem when it comes to politics and getting things do. There are over 580 billion $$$ in Transit and highway projects all ready to go in the Northeast but politics are in the way.

The Route 35 Corridor should have Enhanced bus service , I don't think you can make a case for Rail there. As for Cross County Parkway , they might put a busway along it.

Indeed there should be a connection between LI and Westchester or Connecticut , there were proposals to build a line through Long Island and up to Boston via New Haven - Hartford - Worcester but this was shot down due to costs as high as 50 billion. But it got high ridership marks , about 50,000 daily would use the corridor. They can't extend the Subway lines beyond City limits....its an old rule...

You could put the Rail line on the Newburgh-Beacon bridge , there are proposals to reactivate the Beacon line between Beacon and Danbury connecting the Hudson line at Beacon , Harlem line in Brewster , and Danbury line in Danbury....this would mostly likely come on line within the next 20 years its a cheap project but ridership isn't there yet. There is connecting Ferry service in Beacon to Newburgh along with a proposed Busway along Route 17K...
