Same. Pleasantville school district but not village of Pleasantville here. Saves me probably 5k on the taxes. I have to park in Hawthorne instead of Pleasantville train station but that's about it. A little tougher to walk to town too.
School system is great. Gets the most out of all kids.
How does that work? I mean, where could i live and not pay the town taxes but send my kids to school there?

in a house that is in the school district of Pleasantville but not the incorporated village. School districts and villages have similar but not identical borders.
No the deer will plow right through them. You will be putting up fences nightly.
I took notice while driving around today. Of the houses with fences I saw, fully 75% of them had a section blown out -- likely by rampant deer packs running from the coyotes.
I live about a mile from the Pleasantville village line. I have a Pleasantville address, but I'm part of Mount Pleasant city taxes and Armonk school district.
My neighbor has a chain-link fence for their backyard to keep in their dog. The neighbor on the otherside of me doesn't have on between our two properties. The back of my property is up against Bear Ridge Road and the fence is falling down due to age. One neighbor replaced theirs about five or six years ago. Me and the other neighbor (their's is in worse shape than mine) is probably 20 years old, at best. It's just rotted. Then the weight of the snow...
The other houses around me also lack fences. I know most of them and none of them have outdoor animals so I guess that they really don't have the need for fencing. I'm not aware of any particular zoning law / ordinance that says you can't have one, or offers restrictions. I guess it's just choice.
Going back to the OP, I can't speak about the schools. I've been living here for about three years and I have a two year-old, but from what I hear, the Armonk schools are very good, which was one of the reasons for picking this location.
The major disappointment is that the Pleasantville train station parking is only available to residents in the Pleasantville village/proper. Which is to say, if you can walk to it, you're eligible for a parking spot... silly. So my wife, who works in Manhattan, parks in Hawthorne. That lot generally gets filled up by 8a, though.
