I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and now live in White Plains for the past 5 years. I love it here! Down Town is the center of activity here. All the government buildings are here, there are many bars and restaurants on Mamoreneck Ave. There are meny clubs for dancing also on Mamaroneck, Ave. The supermarket, movie theatre, & 5 pretty big malls are also down town. There is also a big hub for transportation with buses and trains going all over. Street parking is a problem we are not allowed to have street-parking anywhere in white Plains unless there are meters and the ticket agents are always present to give you a ticket. This is a big source of revenue for the city of white plains. You have to have a place to park your car and it can be a problem when you have out of town visitors. I usually tell my visitors to take the train into White Plains. I own a car and have a spot in my building. There are city owned parking spaces that you can pay for but they can add uup to a big expense. Again, I do love living here and am so close yet so far from the city and that's the best part.
i am planning to reside in White Plains on Mamaroneck Ave and work on Bloomingdale Road in hospital. is it possible to get to the hospital without the car. any public transportation that could be used? tx alot

The #60 bus runs up Mamaroneck Avenue. Here's the schedule. Buses generally run every 30 minutes all day. (Keep in mind that sometimes they can get delayed, since they come all the way from Fordham in The Bronx)
I assume you mean NY Presbyterian. In that case, you'd have to get off at Maple Avenue and walk about 1/2 mile east to get to the hospital grounds (and once you're there, you'll have to do some more walking on the hospital grounds to get to the entrance). Either that, or get off at Bryant Avenue, and walk in through the Bryant Avenue gate, though I don't know what hours it's open. Unfortunately, the hospital wasn't planned too well in terms of location. It's doable, but it's not going to be easy.
thank you for answering,, I google the road, seems like it is in the forest... is it safe to walk? what about time when it is snowing..
how much could cost the cab, if I have to take it during the bad weather condition? is it easy to get the cab.. and how much could it cost to get from Mamaroneck Ave and work on Bloomingdale Road ?
