There are usually a good number of people walking that way from the train. It can be a bit dark along the route in some places, but I have made that walk at night and have never felt unsafe. Just use common sense and keep your wits about you. As for parking, there are several buildings with parking places, I would definitely not buy in a building that did not offer parking.

my mom (83) is moving to bronx river road coop in the 700 block. Does anyone know about any senior centers around or any jewish centers

Drug dealers in front of 754 bronxriver road, cars broken into stealing entire soeedometers, all four wheels that the dealer needs to compensate his income on slow days. Just ask Edward Ramos.

To the OP, its very safe at night, aside from a car break in here and there. I lived not to far away for 9 years and we would walk in that area near the park all the time with our kids. I used to jog in the area, sometimes at night, and never saw anything I would consider dangerous -- some weird guys hanging around the park (usually white) but that is about it. Its mostly white collar.
