Any input is appreciated! We are looking to move to Westchester. We have one child with Autism who needs an ABA program. I know that Ardsley schools have an ABA program in their schools. Are there any other public school districts that have an ABA classroom at the elementary school? Thank you!!

Not too sure of Ardsley's programs but if I know correctly there is a BOCES program as well and from what I have been told the kids in that class are low functioning. So if your child is high functioning, it may not be appropriate class. You need to inquire more about Ardsley's program.

You don't mention how old your child is, so its little tricky to suggest anything. I know someone whose child is in Edgemont school district. While the child is high functioning (and doesn't need ABA), they are not really impressed about the new special ed director. If thats true, the 'quality' of Edgemont school district for special education isn't what it used to be under the previous special ed director. You may want to check this out more. Edgemont is such a classy school district that it may be difficult to find out the truth.

If your child is less than 5, then there is Fred S Keller school, which is ABA based or Hawthorne country day school (they have different ABA consultants but both are ABA, if I know correctly).

You may also want to check out Scarsdale and Greenburgh.

Peekskill is another one that has autism class but I don't know if its exactly ABA based. Last I heard about Peekskill wasn't good either, same story as Edgemont.

A note, don't move to Yonkers under any circumstances. That SD is too big to pay attention to individual child. If Long Island is an option, consider Suffolk county. They have a good name in special ed.

I don't know if there is a group of special needs parents for Westchester, but you may want to find it out for more precise info. I gathered all this info when a friend of mine moved from Chicago last year.

I believe Eastchester may have programs to meet your sons needs but I'm not 100% sure, definitely check them out.
