Where to move in Hudson Valley (Yorktown, Carmel: new home, good schools, live)

Hi. We are from beach area in NJ born and raised. We would like to move to an area close enough for us to come back and visit yet find a new home that has a few acres and good feel from the people that live there. We have 2 kids ages 5 1/2 yrs and 7yrs old. Our town is growing too fast and has become so congested along with all of the tourists that come to be by the beach all summer. We need good schools and some entertainment for the kids. I did take a drive to saugerties but didn't see all the wonderful things that many people talk about. And most homes had too much rock landscape. We are looking for more open land, farm land or just flat land in general any help would be great.

Price range in westchester is a heavy issue, as a few acres will be expensive in the southern part of the county. Up north, in Cortlandt, Yorktown, somers, there are large lots with a very rural feel that are more affordable. Best of luck to you.

Also becoming very congested.


Amenia, NY and Carmel, NY area is not congested and still has farmlands. Close to Danbury for shopping needs.

How come you are not looking up by Sussex or Milford PA? that is a nice area. All close enough to amenities in Bergen. Just saying. Coming from Jersey that would be my first choice.
