We are considering moving to Pelham (from elsewhere in Westchester) and am wondering if anyone can shed light on the elementary after-school programs there. From what I can glean, there are no so-called after-school "clubs" like so many of the other districts have. Instead, there's just a standard, bunch-of-kids-playing-in-a-room type after-care. Is that the case? I find it surprising for such a highly-regarded district not to have the slate of options that districts like Rye Neck, Edgemont, even New Rochelle have: chess, coding, sports, cooking, etc.
Can anyone from the area confirm this? Much appreciated.
I am a teacher at one of the elementary schools. Call the school. They have so many clubs. Many of them take place during lunch/recess. The after school clubs are chess, music, art, homework club, and more. During lunch/recess, students can choose to go to an enrichment. There is kickboxing, dance, math, quilting, /anything you can think of. Students can sign up for howewer many as they like. There may be a small fee for enrichment classes like $50.

OP is looking for after school care. Lunch / recess offerings are totally unrelated. Just sayin’
The Pelham Children's Center runs the after-care program at Hutch. They seem good so far - offering homework help and play time, but I will know more later in the year. I am expecting a lot as it's not cheap for an after-care program when I compare it to what I paid in the city.
Prospect also has a similar program and I assume Colonial and Siwanoy have them.
There is also a great afterschool program called Playful Wonders that has a 3pm-6pm program (we use it and love it). Pretty reasonably priced, excellent folks, we are happy with it.
Here's the link, I have no skin in the game either way, just passing along the info:
P.S. As you may be able to tell from my posts, I am no longer in Brooklyn, have been in Pelham for about four years, and love it here.
