We are from Staten Island (near Victory and Bradley) and I am working in Manhattan. My wife got a new job in White Plains. Is it possible to commute from Staten Island to White Plains?
Of course it's possible... in a best case scenario it would take about an hour if you cut through NJ back over the GW Bridge. Probably up the thruway to the Sprainbrook Pkwy? Add traffic, an accident, rush hour and it could easily turn into two hours. Plus it would be quite expensive between gas & tolls.
I am originally from Staten Island and moved to Orange County 10 years ago. There are alot of Staten Island transplants in Orange. There are also alot of people who commute from Orange to Manhattan for work. My suggestion is to move to Orange. It would be an easier commute for your wife. (It's only 90 minutes to drive to Staten Island)
Ditto on moving to Westchester. It will improve commutes for both of you. Metro-North is a very reliable, comfortable service.
