In Westchester County or along the Hudson, what is the best way to commute to Columbia medical center? Which town has the shortest/most convenient commute? We have kids and so need to live near good schools too. (Or do we need to look toward NJ instead?) Thanks.
The best way to commute from Westchester to Columbia Presbyterian is probably just to drive. The Saw Mill Parkway becomes the Henry Hudson, and the hospital is right off the Henry Hudson.
If you took a train, you would have to get to the hospital from either Grand Central, or the 125th Street station.
For commuting therefore, if driving, any town close to the Saw Mill Parkway would give a pretty easy commute. And the further south you are, the shorter the commute.
For good schools along the Saw Mill Parkway, you can try towns like Hastings, Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, for starters.
I'm not working there anymore. So, I can't ask. He would get into the elevator every morning with his bike clothes. I believe that he kept his bike in his office. (It was about four or five years ago.) If I remember correctly, he maximized riding on city streets, and thought that biking in the city was easy.
