Am looking for a romantic weekend cabin rental within 2 hours of Charlotte. We'd like;
-Hot tub
-Pref no satellite TV (DVD ok)
-Isolated, but within 2 miles of a town, doesnt need to be Asheville or Boone, just somewhere where we could walk for a beer and maybe hire a bike?
-close to hiking
-preferably with a mountain/river view.
I have been googling non-stop, but there is so much choice I barely even know where to start! Was wondering if anyone had any personal recommendations?
Helen, GA looks pretty perfect, but we really need to be north of Charlotte (or potentially East).

Thanks all :-)
To stay at the 2 hour mark is kind of limiting and doesn't get you to Asheville or Boone.
My best suggestions are these...
Lake Lure, where you could potentially walk down in Chimney Rock Village and enjoy water and/or mountain views in a rental.
Or, head up I77 toward the state line toward Fancy Gap, VA. There are nice places all around that area that fit the bill for what you want, with the exception of walking somewhere to get a beer. But for some privacy and great views this can be a great place to go.
If renting a bike is very important I would highly recommend you consider upping your time frame to about 3 hours and heading to Damascus, VA (which is beyond Boone, but not a bad drive at all). Rentals there are often along water and you simply cannot beat the experience of riding the Virginia Creeper Bike Trail. The little town of Damascus is very friendly and fun to walk. You could head to Quincey's for some pizza and beer, along with some live music if you're lucky
Thanks for the suggestion LM, 2 hour mark isnt absolute- definitely more of a guideline, have driven to Asheville before and that type of distance would be fine.
The walking distance of beer is a deal breaker though- there are hundreds of cabins which arent in walking distance (a few miles) of a small town, Im looking for the hidden gem that is! Its our first vacation together and want to make sure if we're driving each other crazy we can go out :-)

Well, "isolated" and "within 2 miles of a town" are kind of polar opposites, so good luck with that
You are more likely to find it though in Damascus than any of the other places I mentioned, and forget about Boone or Asheville.
There is a site called "Vacation Rentals by Owner" or something similar, with dozens of cabins. Check them out, get the addresses of the ones that interest you, and ask the owners about the other amenities.
I once stayed in the PERFECT such cabin, even one that allowed us to take our dogs, and the hot tub outside was out of view of other houses enough for us to walk out there nekkid in the morning without being seen, LOL...but sadly (for me), the owner ended up moving there full time.
While I love the Mast Farm Inn, apparently not being within walking distance of beer is a dealbreaker.
