There is a massive heat wave forming up, and it looks like it's going to affect the Midwest the most strongly, but it's going to hit us as well at some point. Here's the link to the story (http://www.weather.com/outlook/weather-news/news/articles/heat-wave-ahead-july-2011_2011-07-14?page=1 - broken link) from weather.com. It's not going to really affect us much until later into the week, but the highest they're showing is 88˚F on Thursday next. Those of you traveling to the Midwest, or if you have family there, take caution, heat indices above 110˚F is scary stuff. Still though...

Somebody's looking out for us! This is Saturday's weather (tomorrow). 91˚F in northern Minnesota, 87˚F in northern Vermont, and only 76˚F here!

Yeah, and I was closing windows, turning off fans and wearing a sweater today! When I left Blowing Rock at 5 PM it was 61 degrees. The high temp was 79 at midnight last night! Currently it is 63 at my house and 57 in Boone!!

100+ degree weather in the Midwest? Reminds me of when I lived in Hell, er, Dallas, Texas.

It was in the seventies here today in North Georgia. I wish it wouldn't end, but the coming weather doesn't look unreasonable for a summer day in WNC or North Georgia.

Curious to see if we eclipse our record 'high' here at our Eagles Nest Mtn joint; we hit 79+ in the shade, several times last summer.
Yesterday, we got up to 78+, in shade. The 60 deg nights are helpful, but it is slightly steamy, and very hazy, up here at ~5,000 ft.
Even had the A/C on last night for a few...

Heat index was in the mid-90's in Asheville today according to the local news. Out here I don't think it got that hot, but it was close.

This crap is why I've decided to finish my degree at App instead of Western. Well, this and I actually know a few folks in Boone. Well, and it's a better town than Sylva.

EDIT: The graphic at the top is apparently updating itself. That's an updated graphic showing for this coming Saturday the 23rd.
