Went up on Saturday to the Doe Mountain Estate land sale, off of route 18. I thought it was wierd that they kept up the pressure to "Bring your Checkbook" and put a deposit right now. The Land was not cleared and the topographical map was just copied on regular paper. Was it even real? Did anyone actually walk the properties or werer you just driven by? Please give me an update or your thoughts. I didn't buy, it just rubbed me the wrong way. Thanks for your imput in advance

I just wanted to see if I could help. A friend of mine contacted me regarding you statements here. I work with Waterfront Group that offered the properties for sale. We took contracts on over 40 properties during the sale. If you have any question of the validity of the properties I'd be happy to give you the number to the Wilkes County Planning board who can verify any information on the properties. The plat map of the property has been recorded in the Wilkes County Register of Deeds along with the covenants. Our sales reps were provided with an approximately 18" x 24" color map on a vinyl-like material called PVC film that had topography and they should have showed this to you as well as gone over a guide book discussing all the information regarding the property - covenants, utilities, etc. We do not typically "clear" the lots as most people prefer to pick thier building site and would prefer us not remove the trees on thier lots. We are not a housing developer, we offer larger acreage mountain properties that most people look to put a log home on so the woods are typically important to our buyers. I'm not sure at what time you viewed the property, but the majority of our customer walked the properties. You should have been allowed to get out and walk any property you chose too. If not, please contact me with the representative you met with and I'll discuss this with them. During our Grand Opening sales our properties tend to sell quickly that day, so we ask customer to be sure to bring a checkbook. It does not mean you have to buy anything, just that if you do find a property you want, it requires a deposit to buy. We've had customers in the past miss out on a property they wanted because they failed to bring a check. I'm sorry if you felt uncomfortable at our sale - it may be better to view one of our properties after our sale where you can view them at a more casual pace. If I can help you with anything, feel free to contact me at our office number - 800-455-1981 and ask for Joel.

Joel, good post. Can you tell us where exactly this property is located?

Thanks. The properties are located in Northwest Wilkes County just off NC 18 North of Wilkesboro, south of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Our website - which needs to be updated now since the sale - is http://www.doemountainnc.com (We have sold all of our $19,900 properties and our properties in the mid-$20s). The properties still available start at $39,900. We show it by appointment, so if you'd like to view them or have any questions, you can call us at 800-455-1981 - office is located in the Charlotte area. Thanks again.

Smile Thanks JB

Maybe I did go during a busy time Saturday @ 12:00, but I was never shown the laminated map, and as soon as we said we wouldn't Buy right then, we were basically blown off. I don't want to lay blame on anyone, and I'm very glad you reponded to my post. This is what this fourm is all about. Thank you for your explanation and you time. Good luck in selling the reast of the properties

I apologize for your experience. That's not typical of our representatives, but I will make a point to our representatives about professionalism and that customer service is our first goal - not just a sale. I would hope that we could help you in the future. If you see a property of interest, feel free to give me a call and I'll be more than happy to help you and ensure you a much better experience. Thanks again for your time.

Default Doe Mountain No Scam

My wife and I just purchased land on Doe Mountain. I am a Remax Agent. The Waterfront group was professional and our agents Jeremy and Pete were very friendly. The financing approval was quick. At the time we were there the roads were completed, and all the lots surveyed. I was handed a survey map with dimensions of my lot.We have been happy with our purchase and since then I have been talking to our agent about buying another lot on Doe Mountain. They are priced real reasonable. You save "Doe" on "DOE" Mountain.
