We are planning to move this summer from Northern Virginia to Asheville area. We would like to be in a golf course community as we both enjoy playing. We like the idea of the variety of activities these communities offer. We have visited Cummings Cove, which we liked, and High Vista. Would love to hear feedback (good or bad) about these communities and also suggestions for others to visit!

We looked at homes in Cummings Cove recently. Some nice homes of widely varying prices. Golf course grass looked kind of dead, but maybe it's just the winbter look of that type of grass. Not much going on in Etowah, but pretty close to Hendersonville and not far from Asheville. Several vacant lots in the part of the community we concentrated on, but that varies. Fitness center looked nice. Kenmur (sp?) in Flat Rock was the biggest (and, seemingly, the most golf-oriented) community we looked at. Pricey, but nice, especially if you golf (and can afford it). For various reasons we're currently looking mainly at Strauis Park (no golf) in Brevard, and Connostee Falls (has golf) a few miles beyond Brevard (may well be too far from Asheville for your taste).

I have played several tracks in A'ville area, but live in Waynesville, 30 miles west. Our club is Laurel Ridge CC.

Cummings Cove was in so-so shape last summer, imo. High Vista is a very good track, imo, and I like the 'area', fwiw. No idea on the house situ/club dues, club fiscal health of any tracks in A'ville. My personal fave in A'ville is the Asheville Country Club.

Etowah is 'for sale', whatever that means, though nice 3 nine track. Connestee Falls went through some fiscal troubles a few years ago, but when I played it last summer, it seemed fine. Hendersonville CC is a great old style track with attendant clubhouse and grounds, but pretty pricey and a bit old time ish.
My 50Cts, from a struggling 13.8 HDCP Index.

Default Black Mountain Area

Thanks for the information. We will take a look at Connestee Falls. We are also thinking about Black Mountain but not sure if there are any golf course communities in that area.

Wolf Laurel Country Club! It's gorgeous! about 30 mins north of asheville.
My fiance and I moved up here in 2009 and Love it! The club house has delicious food too. Google it, you'll find lots of info on it. Good luck!
