Of all the small cities, towns and hamlets in the North Carolina Appalachians, which ones are your favorites and why? Size, location, town square, the people, the shopping??
Here are just a few of the candidates:
Bakersville, Banner Elk, Beech Mountain, Biltmore Village, Black Mountain, Blowing Rock , Brevard, Bryson City , Burnsville, Cashiers, Cherokee, Chimney Rock Village, Columbus, Crossnore, Dillsboro, Flat Rock, Forest City, Franklin, Hendersonville, Highlands, Hot Springs, Lake Junaluska, Lake Lure, Lake Toxaway, Little Switzerland, Maggie Valley, Marion, Mars Hill , Marshall, Morganton, Murphy , Old Fort, Robbinsville, Rutherfordton, Saluda, Spruce Pine, Sylva, Tryon, Valdese, Waynesville, Weaverville, West Asheville, and West Jefferson
Surprised at the lack of interest, or opinions, in the poll; yet the number of questions and opinions on various areas must be at least 100 from time to time.
Many of those are places I have never been to (a couple I have never even heard of), several I have only driven through and a few I have only spent a few hours in - so anything I would vote for is based on very limited information and not valid IMO.
^ +1...
I missed the line about voting for more than one town; I voted for where we have lived for the past 18 years.
We have been to/through all of the towns/areas listed during our time here; most have some fine attributes, but I suspect most posters who live in western NC 'like where they live and are', the best.

Evidently the 'poll' was created by the OP. Not a 'professional' poll, and some town names are italicized and others are not, for whatever the reason). The poll is for the OP's information it seems. As for detailed information, Google is the poster's friend; or, a thorough search thru the CD forums for each town or city.
No Asheville?
Or is West Asheville supposed to be Asheville?

I guess Asheville is too big.
