Also I have no idea why some towns are italicized - Strange

I have been to only a handful and what brought me to this area was Asheville, but West Asheville is okay too. The whole area has a funky vibe, energy, and mix of people that I enjoy, along with lots of shops and restaurants that are always changing. Plus the River Arts District with all the incredible artists is very creative and vibrant.

Of the other towns, I like Hendersonville, Black Mountain and Waynesville for their downtown areas, and the latter two for their beautiful mountain scenery.

Lot of good ones on that list but I am partial to Black Mountain (used to own a home there by river) and Bryson City where I do some business. Good quiet towns with just enough going on for me to make things interesting.

Texas I see you been working to narrow down your list by STATE and now in NC it reducing down to a city town or community or are you that corn-fuzed with were to look ! . Anyhow want a find that just right spot basic research should get you close ? If retired load up and take a ride around . Or ask more specific questions .

For us growing up living in SW FL for 42 years we wanted an area that did not scream tourist hot spot , had little drug issues and no gang activity like our collier county fl and moved to an area we vacationed near to for many years to finish out our working years . Now 22 years later its changed little . Yet still close enough to larger markets for those needs but still I can walk out side to hunt or shoot and not bother any one or walk down to one of our creeks to fish . Now what town is it in ? It's on your list but not like it matters as there at least 50 other areas like it in wnc so find what you like .

Bryson City. Cool downtown albeit small. Lots to do within a short drive from the area. We have the train, several really good restaurants and the Tuck runs right through town.
