Hi all, I’m thinking of retiring to Maggie Valley but I have heard some folks don’t like it. What are your thoughts?

Its a tourist town . Lots of research can be done in line , have the chamber of commerce send you a info bundle and visit when conditions allow . I find Maggie valley I nice place to visit but prefer a more rural town to live in .

That’s what I was wondering, too touristy, too busy. I’ll look at Waynesville.

No idea what your looking for but Yancey county is where we have lived for the last 23 years with Burnsville as our town and for those that may want a upscaled development play tennis and chase that little white ball , have a community garden , on property dinning & might have a airplane or chopper and like everything done by others for you can look at Mountain Air here . Other wise were still a pretty low key ares . If you live on the west side of the county mars hill is close and eeaverville is home to big box stores as needed and might be 20 miuntes . Main valley area along us-19 offer less weather in general year round than many wnc areas too amd lower taxes .

Then there living around mars hill west to yancey county ! So many nice areas to live .
