We are looking at relocating to Wauwatosa, WI for a job. Where we live now, rural MN, we have 15 acres with some woods and pasture and about 13 miles from town. I am completely unfamiliar with this area in WI and am wondering if there are some "small town" areas near Wauwatosa? I would be grateful for any insight or suggestions. Thank you!

How close do you consider "near" Wauwatosa? I'm not an expert on the small towns around there and how much land you can get, but within 20 miles there are small towns.

40-50 mile commute would be ok. Of course, the closer the better!

There are lots of small towns within that distance of Wauwatosa. Look in Waukesha County to the west or Ozaukee County to the north.

I'd start looking in Washington County, which has plenty of what you want. Maybe eastern Dodge County.

There is a lot of land within the distance you are looking to commute; the budget will determine whether you find what you are looking for. You'd probably get better responses if you offered up more information.

Check out the Muskego and Mukwonago areas. There is plenty of open land just outside of both towns, you'd be about 30 minutes from Tosa (20 miles or so), you're relatively close to amenities in Waukesha or New Berlin, and if you have kids the schools are still pretty good.
