After 17 pretty good years in WI, I'm ready to be done here. Although I have a great career and friends, and my wife's family is nearby, I've seen and done everything I want to do here, and I'm ready for a change. I'm thankful this winter has been milder than typical, but it's still ugly, cold and just not my thing. I've always loved the West Coast, and would much rather live there, even if it's crowded and expensive. The sand in my driveway and garage can be from fun trips to the beach, not from city trucks dumping dirt on my street for half the year to supposedly help with traction.

we've just been back maybe 1.5 yrs after 6 in SC...... yes thankfully winter has been mild vs regular years but we still find ourselves longing for the old "lets take a day trip to Charleston" like we frequently did down there.
But seeing the grandchild at minimum 1-2 times a week, plus being back by family; makes up for it.

We'll never like winter, and will miss the long southern summer, but as we age we realized family was # 1.

Dang if we cant try to sneak out for a week or two when it gets bad here though lol

Ranger, I'm driving down to Charleston, SC in early June to pick up my kid from school. I plan to stay in the area for a week or so. Last June it was over 100 degrees when I was there and then I really, really missed good old Wisconsin!
(Gotta stock up on Duke's while I'm down there, too.)

Nicci6 as I'm sure you know, Charleston in summer can feel just fine if you are walking the battery, sitting down by waterfront park, or down on one of the beaches.
But wandering around in town with no cross breeze (the market can be a real doozy on hot days lol)...... Well thats when it can get a tad warm.
Enjoy the trip!

Been here for 24 years and we've (Wife and I) have had enough of the long winters and short summers. We'll be moving to the coastal south in July after several years of contemplating said move. It will be the hottest time of the year but the heat is what we are looking forward to the most in the south.

We walked for miles in December when we were there and I was dying of heat exhaustion. It was "only" about 85 degrees, but I think my blood was used to Wisconsin weather!
My son worked at The Market for awhile. Heat doesn't affect him, the lucky bum.
Hope you're enjoying family time.

So? That's what happens, it's called having 4 seasons. It's nothing new.

What four seasons? There is cold, more cold, frigid and an eight week period of warmth.
