how does La Crosse size up for a person who is closer to 30 than 20 and still wants some night life action, but doesnt really want to be overrun by fiendish college kids looking for their next thrill funded by their parents or student loans, but yet still wants to be near a college campus to offset the drudgery of the suburban sprawl and to be nearby some educational resources and wants to potentially meet people to throw around the disc (frisbee) once and while and work on artistic endeavors and music.

I'm right now much closer to G. Forks, maybe I should just head there because whats the difference...two small cities with decent colleges. Or maybe I should aim for La Crosse and if all else fails stay in Winona (Ryder) for a while. What say fam?

or am I sizing up La Crosse all wrong...its just a place in WI, end of story. Its pretty chill, but its just a place like any other place except more bars...is that right?

The La Crosse area is very beautiful and if you like to be outdoors there is plenty to do. There is nightlife in La Crosse, and others can correct me if I'm wrong but it isn't completely overtaken but the college students as there is more to La Crosse than just the college. It's not like River Falls.

I would choose La Crosse over Grand Forks.

We have bars, we have disk golf, we have UWL and culture is available. We also have the Mississippi river, parks, walking/biking trails, etc. I like it here. Maybe visit La Crosse and see for yourself?
