Been out of work for three months and have an interview for a contract job. Problem is it pays about the same or less than I was making with a full-time salary but with no benefits, time off, etc.
I could take it until I find something permanent, but I don't know if I could breach the contract.
I feel like I should pass and keep looking for a full-time gig.
Can you afford to turn this down until you get a full-time position? I say take the contract for now.
I'm on UI right now, but the job is relevant to my career interests. Plus, the thought of me on 99 weeks of UI can get some people riled up around here.
DEF take the job! It's a REALLY tough market right now, and don't discount the length of time it will take you to find another job. If the potential employer (post-contract job) likes you enough - they will understand (and respect) the fact that you can't/won't break your contract until it ends.
Take the contract job. Most contracts have out clauses that provide for termination on either party's part for any reason.
