I have two jobs (three if you count my website):

Job #1
$12/hr
M-F 8-5
1.5 hr commute each way
omg boring as ****
4 hours at work seems like a life sentence

Job #2
$9/hr
weekends
15 minute commute each way
mindless work, but I like data collection
4 hours at work seems like less than 4 hours, it passes quickly

I just got home from working 4 hours at job #2, and would you believe I forgot to have a departure cigarette, simply because the work was so enjoyable, albeit mindless and fairly robotic.

Now I have to decide, do I play Jim's Flying High Iowa Airport Tour, work on my website, or go to sleep?

oops, in the title I should have said "jobs", plural, but actually I was just thinking of job #1 when I started the thread. I really do like job #2 better but the hours are not full-time.

Oh my gosh that's almost my own job history! I was making better money at my first job which was boring as hell and a dead-end one to boot. Quit hoping to find a better job in the part of the country I wanted to live in, ended up not only back in my hometown but back at home with my mom and make about the same as you're making except working retail in a stressful-as-hell job.

Sounds like you're working hard. Doesn't sound to me like you're whining at all. Most of the gripers I know won't work a minute over 40 hours.

Relax, take a nap, etc. You earned it.

Why in the sam hell do you have a 90 minute commute each way to work? You couldn't find anything closer? At $12 bones an hour that isn't even worth it.

I have to agree, find a closer job or move. If you get 20 mpg you are working 2-3 hours a day just to pay for the gas. Looking at it another way, after gas, you really make $8.25, that's less than minimum wage here.

Actually it's "only" $8 a day in travel cost (drive 25 miles @ 30 mpg on a traffic-free route to the train station, and train fare is $1.50 each way).

My average commute is 2-2.5 hours EACH WAY but my position pays much more than $12 an hour ... Would move closer if this was full-time and permanent but unfortunately, the commute is the price I pay for being ambitious.

What train station is this where you are able to do it for 1.50 each way? You live in Santa Ana right? Metrolink/Amtrak costs WAY more than that!
