So I just moved to Florida from Vancouver Canada as a dual citizen. I am staying with Family here in Orlando. Im looking for jobs in Orlando, Miami and Tampa and it has been 7 week and nothing so far. Im getting really impatient. So I guess Im wondering how others are coping in the job market. I have 2 bachelors degrees in Psychology and Exercise Physiology and I recently did my MBA with a focus green energy business, altough in reality it was more finance and marketing hybrid and little about the energy sector at all.

I have had few calls and interviews but it seems like these companies don't have the budget or just interview people to give HR something to do.

Really, I get emails for interviews sometimes, I respond to say I am interested and they never get back to me.... How weird is that? How unprofessional is that?

I have money in the bank, but I don't know how long this is going to last, I mean how long can I send out 5-10 resumes a day) Im getting really frustrated.Eventually I'll find something, but I am also interested in doing my CPA to have more job security. I cant take being unemployed this long it feels like Im forgetting all my schooling ( my prior jobs were in personal training, sales, and various duties in resorts)

I am just trying to vent but is anyone in the same boat? Im 30 years old This is hell what is the real unemployment rate in the USA? Im not interested in going back to canada its too cold, too limited and too socialist?

does anyone have any happy endings? Im going out my mind, all my stuff is in storage too

How is everyone coping with this economy and the Job Hunt?

Go try Kohls until something comes along. Great company to move up in.

I do have a happy ending. After being unemployed for almost 3 years, I lowered my expectations. I went for a position that was lower then what I normally do but was desperate. Ended up in a better position than I applied for and have now been there a year. What a suprise and a blessing. Keep looking something will work out eventually. Before I found my job I got lots of bites and nibbles but couldn't get a hook in a good position. I lowered my salary request and got down off my high horse. All the sudden it just happened. I'm very greatfull and hope it happens for you too.

Few states are really doing well on jobs, but Florida is worse than most. The real unemployment rate is a few points above the reported number, but you have to be actually looking to be counted. If you gave up after a year, you are not counted as unemployed.

Do you have the educational requirements to even get your CPA?

Been unemployed for five months now. Not even a single interview yet. I do keep getting calls for jobs that are just a fraction above what I already get for unemployment, require me to pay for my own relocation, and are always second and/or third shift and weekend coverage jobs. I have a hard time getting responses from anyone, especially the recruiters. All of the money from my severance that I set aside just got spent paying my federal taxes for 2010, and I'm not sure I can live off of what I get for my unemployment. It's really bad.

Do you have any relevant work experience? Or just the degrees?

It's tough out there, and unfortunately you might have to start from the bottom. For instance I had to take a part-time job in research, and I was told in April I might be able to move up to a higher part-time position, and after that that I could become a full fledged analyst.

It sucks to have to go back to the bottom, I hate it, but those salaried positions that you probably qualify for have the most competition. With your background getting a job at a lower level and working your way up might be the best way to go. I was unemployed for two months and now working part-time.

Most of the jobs that I have been applying for and getting interviews (I have already interviewed 6 times) are internships, part-time, fellowships or entry-level.
