My wife and I are moving back to Indianapolis in 4 months, from Florida. My wife works for a corporate retail chain in Mid-Management so she can transfer fairly easily. I however, have a good job down here, but it's very physical and it's not realistic long term.

So, I've decided to go to Pharm D school, in Indianapolis. I already have a Bachelors Degree. What I'm trying to do is get work as a Pharmacy Tech full time while I'm in school. I'm certified, but have no experience in this field. What would be the best course of action?

Moving up with only one job seems risky, should I try to get hired on down here, Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, etc and have them transfer me up there. Save up a enough for a few rough months. The field I'm in now, tennis professional, is very transient so it's easy to find a job online, or far away and make it happen.

However, in this instance I don't know the best course of action. Please Advise.

Thanks

Get a job in the field now. It is probably easier in FL due to all the seniors (more pharmacies due to more demand and larger volume of Rx customers.)

Then when you move to Indy, you can try to transfer and stay with the same company. However, even if you cannot transfer, it will be much easier to get a pharm tech job in Indy after you are experienced in the field. Also it will be easier to get a raise if you move to a different company...since you will be experienced versus brand new in the field.

Also once you start in school, it is likely that your school has some kind of placement for the pharm tech job in the field, while you are still in school.

GREAT CHOICE to be a pharmacist. I would choose that path today if I was starting my education/career.
