I understand that our senior management team is quite shocked and amused at the various Internet sites our staff looks at when they are suppose to be working. Our folks in IT sent a report listing every single website every employee visited during their work hours. Lots of porn and fetish sites and lots of time on Facebook, Amazon and EBay. Also lots of chat sites too.
A number of employees got fired last week for looking at too many kinky websites. Does this happen where you work too?
We provide all types of reports all the time. In fact, it go so tiresome that we just assigned rights to an appointed POC from each department to run the reports themselves.
I'm more surprised that the organization isn't blocking those sites (if that's the case. we do block all inappropriate sites, but the http requests are still logged). That's a big liability right there - from a hr/legal stand point and a IT security stand point.

They should be fired because they showed they are not normal by looking at those types of sites at work

Anything pornographic or potentially dangerous (ie viruses/trojans) to the network are blocked. Other sites you get a warning screen and are advised that this site may be a waste of company resources, but you can still click through it. I used to be worried about the manager seeing what sites I was visiting, but no one has been reprimanded far as I know, so I don't worry about it any more.

A former company I used to work at a upper level manager was caught looking at kiddy porn and was fired for it. One of the IT manager's had to keep a copy of the guy's Hard Drive, in case the former manager tried to sue the company for wrongful termination. He was a little concerned he had that type of material in his possession.
We're allowed to browse on breaks and lunch. Although we don't have to log in to get on the interwebby, we can tell which computer station was looking at certain sites and certain times. We check occasionally and know......get caught in the act while you're "working"......you get a nice reprimand that's documented.
Do it again?
Sayonara.
Facebook, webmail from home accounts, and shopping sites are all blocked. Porn, of course....is a no-no.
