What they fail to point out is that the only reason unions were able to extract the wage and benefit increases that they could was because the US was pretty much the only industrialized nation around for quite some time after WWII. Asia had not yet industrialized and Europe had pretty much been completely destroyed and had to start from scratch.

In other words, the economy that the left points to as the norm under liberal leadership was actually an extreme aberration caused by the most catastrophic war in human history.
The Left still hasn't learned from history. They point to the 1990s as a time of great prosperity thanks to the relatively liberal Bill Clinton's presidency.

Yet, Clinton suffered a massive electoral defeat in 1994, when a huge wave of fiscal conservatives swept Congress and took away his ability to spend money on liberal agenda items like HillaryCare. The 1996 welfare reforms were architected by Newt Gingrich. The massive budget surplus was a temporary windfall from the ridiculous and disastrous tech investment bubble.

We Americans are pretty good at business, and pretty good at developing new technologies, and we have some pretty capable military units, but we're lousy at managing a country. Our government is corrupt and dysfunctional, and our people have turned into a bunch of lazy gimme-that-now types who don't understand how to balance a checkbook, much less put away savings for retirement or tighten our belts to provide better for our children.

The Asians however have not forgotten these lessons and that is why they're forging ahead of us right now. I think within most of our lifetimes eastern Asia will emerge as the main super-powers in the world, probably China followed by India. Japan was very powerful in the 1980s, but then they, like the Russians, stopped having kids. The Europeans are allowing in millions of Muslim immigrants from 3rd world nations and probably in 50 years they'll be predominantly Muslim nations with all that implies.

As Cheap Charly says, Asia is the future. If the United States wants to step up its game and compete, we should be looking to Asia for the way forward.

Asia is the future but it isn't the be all, end all. There is a lot of room for growth in Japan in particular China and even India but the question with China is their growth sustainable. I mean we have all heard that they maybe inflating numbers due to currency control (we can't prove if it is/isn't happening and what are the effects.) I would say Asia has huge growth potential but the question is, is it a shell game where only the manipulator really wins.

What I mean by " stuck mind"? , I mean you can not see that there is a life outside of the USA. There are millions of USA expats who live really well and they are not rich.

since kindergarten you have been brainwashed and indoctrinated by the American dream. Now you realize it s not going to happen, so do I, and I m not happy too.

You just need to look for a non USA company, apply, make your bags and leave. If lucky you can get a job for a USA company outside of USA in a few weeks and have a good life.

Then you will rack plenty of money. In 6 months you can make what a guy make in 2 years in the USA . how? Because life is cheaper than in the USA. You will probably spend 5 times less. Life will be good...
Why not start as an English teacher? Some places don't ask for qualifications.

If I was you I would ask for a passport first and look on line for a job in Asia, Europe, or Africa . then export your skill. USA don't need you, but the world need you.

Why are more people not making and selling weapons and drugs? If every one did it law enforcement could not keep up and they would be forced to stop enforcing it or legalize it.

I wonder why them and now us stopped having kids:

Child support in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Because of course its all about the non working mom who is shacked up or remarried to a new guy and the kid and not the guy who is actually generating the national GDP. If the nation punishes the actual productive members of its society then this is what you get. No one told the govt they needed to provide welfare for single moms which is what spawned the child support movement and thus the disincentive to work and future men to be very careful to not have children.

We live in a child centric socity where children having the latests toys and gadgets are considered a "need" and we make the GDP creators pay for it. If the family falls apart then everyone suffers including the kids, thats life. Maybe the mom/wife should have tried a little harder to keep things together.

Its so stupid it got prohibition repealed. The only reason you are able to go down and get a beer at a tavern is because of the boot legers and the extreme violence they created. Govt only responds to violence. There will not be meaningful change unless state and fed agencies are taking very heavy casulties and they simply can not control what the public wants.

Those are the types of jobs you accept when you just come out of college not FAST FOOD
No, I think Wal Mart checks credit so if you're drowning in student-loan debt out of college forget about it. I know Lowe's does.

SOMEWHERE there's a call-center job that doesn't...."somewhere over the rainbow..."??!
