Just curious. We had a snowstorm on Wednesday night and only 2 people out of 25 showed up on Thursday... about 15 today....we are now roughly 25-30,000 samples behind.

My regular shift is 8-430.

Today I worked 5am-610pm, I'm going back at 3AM tonight and working until 3:30PM. Then going BACK tomorrow night at 10PM and working until 8AM. Off on Sunday but I am volunteering my other day off, Monday, 4:30am - 2pm to help get caught up.

This is about to suck major ass.

What's the worst hours you've had to pull and why did you have to do it?
Current job and of all time jobs.

Being a machinistGuy, It's often that I have to do "emergency OT." Usually short notice too....e.g......TODAY.

15 hours a couple of times but the worst was during a Caterpillar strike some years back. 84 hours per week for seven or eight weeks in a row.

Seven twelve hour shifts.....then Monday comes.....let's do it again......

17 hours with an hour commute after that.

18 hours with a twenty minute commute after that.

The former was a case of a client who needed to meet before his flight, which meant getting up at 4am and leaving my home at 5am to meet him at 6, on a day another client was coming in late for meetings and I walked out after 11pm.

The latter involved a big project that needed to be done because the presentation was the next day.

There was one more project I just remembered where I worked from 5am until sometime between 11pm - 12am for a month, with breaks to get the kids fed. I worked from home so no commute - but had to pick up the slack because two people were out - one on maternity leave and one to tend to a dying parent.

It sucks, but you do what you have to do to get it done. You won't be alone, right? You'll find that you'll laugh a lot and make jokes about the situation, which will help.

Good luck.

Out of HS I worked at a produce distribution center. It was 4th of July weekend. 3 guys were out. Worked from 8pm Thursday night until 3:30 pm Friday. 15 minute breaks after every 2 hours. I was tired.

Current job, I'm fortunate enough to say is pretty much "banker's hours", so very little to complain about even with taking the company laptop home and occasionally working a Saturday morning or two.

Worst hours ever? I once worked a 24 hour shift. I worked my shift as the general manager of the hotel, had to cover the Front Desk as my Front Desk person called in sick (and there were few to no alternatives), and my night laundry guy no-showed on me.

When working "on-property" in hotels, there were a goodly number of 14-16 hour days.
