Can someone please explain the difference between a Customer Success Associate and Customer Success Manager in the IT field? Btw, I have already Googled the question. I've found a huge difference in salary between the two, however, the job descriptions for various companies are quite similar. Any informative answers would be greatly appreciated.
It is possible the highly paid Customer Success Manager is supervising 3-5 staff members.
Some companies use the CS Manager title as a form of puffery they think looks better for customers, and bestow this title on non-supervisory employees. However, for salary benchmarking purposes the non-supervisory CS Manager would equate to a Specialist, Associate, Coordinator type of title.
The job description should tell you who the position reports to. Most companies have Coordinator, Specialist, Analyst, Manager and then Director. If a role reports to a Manager, and follows defined process, it is lower level. If a role supervises staff, it is higher level.
The manager may very well be responsible for the account itself.
