Hi need advice on the best way to approach my boss about possibly giving me a set schedule.

So my work rarely gives a set schedule out to be fair to everyone. That makes sense.

I am the only full time employee.

Currently live 40 miles away from work. Hoping to move closer next year for few reasons. One is be cheaper in the mong run living close to work and the other to have more time with family.

Now the pluses to doing 2 16s would be more time with my family and have the ability to go back to school as well.

Because right now considering looking elsewhere for work at night. I take a cut in pay and I enjoy my job where I don't want to leave right away. Also going part time isn't much of an opition because I'll lose out on full time benefits (Lower health insurance cost) and full time reimbursement.

How do you think it be the best way to approach my boss about this?

What does this mean? They don't tell you when to come in and when to leave? Or is this a retail type job where they give you all random hours?

I don't understand either. What do you work now?

Sounds like they give employees a different schedule every week. My last job was simple - M-F, 8 AM to 5 PM. That would be a set schedule. Not 8-5 today, 11:30 to 8 tomorrow, etc.

It's the healthcare biz. You receive your schedule 2 weeks in advance. Schedule covers 4 weeks then a new one. Scheduke is variable shifts for everyone. No set schedule can't be just eves or days. Exception is only for night shift, managers, the PCTs, and Social Worker's.

Only set schedule is your weekend. Rotating weekends and day or eves.
