Sorry for such the long title but last week I was told that business isn't doing so well and the small mom and pop Airplane training school that I work at (I work at the desk, not a instructor) is doing pretty bad sales wise and needed to cut me out until the end of March when they expect things to go up (the weather will improve) and decreased everyone else's hours. I am the only one working the desk and the boss can take over my job (hence cutting me out as a whole).

I have returned back to full time college in a few days anyways after taking it slow (and stop and go due to life experiences) and will be taking 14 credits much more than my usual 3,6 credits a semester. I plan continuing to go full time college until I finish (I hope to get my BS in 2010 or 2011)-including summers.

Is it worth trying to find a new job in this short time period? I will be very busy with college and homework and college would come first. I get paid a good amount of money at the airplane job, making 3-4 dollars more than I would at another job with my lack of experience/education. I can use the computer at the desk to do my homework while at work when there isn't stuff going on. Not many other places would be that good to me. How many companies will want to hire a full time college student? I did go on a few job sites but I am not qualified for many of the jobs. Most of my classes are night classes so that is one advantage. I thought of maybe going on unemployment until March although my job was only part time and got part-part time as the winter went along so I am not sure if I will qualify. I will need a little money for gas to get to my classes and pay a few bills here and there but I do have some money in my bank account (not a lot but I think i can stretch it out).

Yes, go on unemployment. It's better to have a little money coming in, than none at all, and you have nothing to lose by applying.
I would still look for another job, unless you are really, really, really sure you will definitely be brought back in to work in March.

I agree with the previous poster. If you are eligible for unemployment, why not take it until you get things figured out?

Also, if you will need income within the next few months, I would suggest starting to look for a new job. There's no guarantee that they will bring you back at the end of March, right? What if business doesn't improve, and they don't have a job for you?

If you can get unemployment, then take it. Also, you should apply for financial aid, at the college that you'd like to attend. You'll have to decide if college is your main priority, or the job that you MIGHT go back to, in March. Since business at your job is bad now, I wouldn't count on being able to go back to work there, in March.

If you do decide to go back to your job in March, if it's still available, consider going to college as a fall-back plan. Then you can still apply for financial aid, and probably have money to go to college, in case your company lays you off again. Best of luck, whatever you decide to do.

If I recall correctly, I just kinda did my college thing for a few months and when March came around I got my job and stayed there until things got slow in Dec. There was talk of "there may not be a job when you come back" when I went to visit my relatives overseas so I applied for a different job, and ended up getting the job. Well, I got an email from the airport job asking me to return, only to have to tell them "sorry, it sounded like you didn't need me".
