Well, I never had any idea a toll booth attendant could make that much even if they were employed there for 30 years. My former manager at a humongous pharmaceutical company was there for 30 years with a degree and he was only up to 80K when he retired - and that was the only company he has ever worked for in his life. AMAZING a toll booth attendant could make that much over the years.
wow! ppl are making $80k in roughly 7-9 years where I live.
I'd work the toll booth job until I paid off the majority of my debt and then dive into the architectural field.
Amen!
When I was younger, I would have chosen the architect route, and I think that would have been appropriate. Having been around the block a few times, I realize that in these times, financial stability may need to take a front seat ahead of teh growth.
I thought about this one for a while. I would work at the toll booth till all my bills were paid and I had a year's expenses banked and decent other savings. Then I would jump ship and be an architect.
There is no way anyone working a toll booth is making $100k a year anywhere on this planet. My wife is an accountant with the dept. of transportation in Florida and previous to that she worked for the New Jersey Turnpike. I asked her about this and she said it was complete hogwash and that the highest paid toll operators made around 20 hr before everyone started contracting it out and now it pays even less. So unless this theoretical person is working 24 hrs a day 7 days a week this is just uninformed speculation.
I already work at an architectural/engineering firm. I'm not an architect and I make close to $50,000 already. I choose toll booth because I'm getting tired of thinking.
This is a theoretical question and i'm surprised by the poll results.
