From the perspective from people all over the world and people you know do you find Houston to be an international city? I really want to only hear from peoplewho live outside the U.S.

Do you believe it to be more international than San Francisco and Chicago? Or do you think Chicago and San Francisco are more international?

Houston?!?
That trashy city is totally ignored by europeans and - yes, Chicago and San Francisco are more international.

2. Los Angeles
3. Chicago
4. San Francisco
...

As someone who lives in Europe, I should say that Houston doesn't really register on the radar. It's not a city we really consider at all.

That's bad, I grant, but there is worse news:

We do actually think about Dallas. Perhaps it's the legacy of J.R. Ewing, or the Dallas Cowboys whom seem to get far more talk on movies than Houston. Regardless, Dallas is more visible than Houston.

As far as international cities go i think most non-Americans rank New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Miami, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Washington DC (and maybe Honolulu, Seattle, Dallas, New Orleans, Philadelphia) above Houston.

Why does one have to visit a city to know it's international? I have never been to Tokyo, Paris or Barcelona. I guess that must mean they are not very international? I really don't see how visting Houston will determine if it's international or not. You act like when people visit they will be wowed of how international it is, and they actually won't. I have visited Houston before and it doesn't feel international at all. It doesn't feel cosmoplitan at all. Sure it's diverse and center for international business but that is as far as it goes.

All of Texas's major cities are VERY international. The problem is that some Europeans think that they are the extent of what is considered "international". To a person from Equador or Panama - Houston is every bit as international as Chicago or San Fran.

I am not saying it's not international. But I certainly don't think it's as international as SF or Chicago.

Compared to the international feel of New York City, every other city in the U.S. feels provincial. It is just not the same magnitude anywhere else, even though there's a gradation of cities.
