I don't agree with Toronto or Vancouver winning out over Seattle, Milan and Istanbul. I've been to all of these except Istanbul, and I'd much rather spend my time in Milan or Seattle than set a foot in Toronto or Vancouver. Boring, boring cities. The only good thing about Vancouver is that it's close to Seattle. And Victoria.

Brussels is kinda boring too, but still way better than Toronto or Vancouver.

Most interesting cities on your list: Barcelona, Berlin, Singapore, San Francisco, Shanghai and New York.

It's an interesting list, but considering some of the cities you've put under world class, I don't think it makes sense you'd put close but not quite for Istanbul or Milan and that you'd leave out cities like Osaka (one of the largest metros in the world both in population and economic indicators), Taipei (first world country primate city that is substantially larger than Singapore with a lot of major corporations and a high standard of living), Mexico City, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Kuala Lumpur (these last few might be considered to be in somewhat less developed or wealthy countries but they themselves are very developed and that didn't preclude cities like Shanghai and Beijing from being admitted), Montreal (Vancouver ahead of Montreal?), Boston, DC, Houston, and a slew of other cities (a lot of US cities if economic indicators and population size are important).

In most of the indexes it is.

The bold ones aren't world-class cities at all (IMO). Maybe in an economical sense, but definitely not in regard to culture, history or tourism. I mean Istanbul or Prague are way more "classy", "unique" or "popular" than Geneva or Frankfurt.

Due to the fact that I'm still quite young and have mostly been to European cities and countries, my list appears to be quite 'Eurocentric':

Europe: London, Paris, Rome, Berlin, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Barcelona, Vienna, Amsterdam, Istanbul, Prague, Athens
the Americas: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Ciudad de México
Asia: Tokyo, Shanghai, Singapore, Bejing, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Istanbul
Australia/Oceania: Sydney, Melbourne
Africa: Johannesburg, Cape Town, Cairo
