Edinburgh, I agree, a beautiful city.
Not so sure about the rest.

My response was more for the OP who'd written the UK has London and that's it
IMO only thing good about Birmingham is the great rock bands that
originated there, like...Black Sabbath, Slade, Judas Priest, and The Moody Blues

Then you're missing a lot of history in each of those cities. Unless your idea of interesting revolves around modern popular culture and gigantic traffic jams, then we can't help you

Could also add Oxford and Cambridge - they alone beat anything in Canada architecturally and historically. I don't think Mumsen really knows enough about the UK to make a reasonable judgement of it.

They are famous for being interesting and unique? Cities like Vancouver and Calgary are probably more well-known than their English counterparts but that doesn't make them any more interesting - London simply overshadows the rest of the UK and makes it hard for other cities to get international exposure.

Vancouver: Surely the most Asian/Oriental influenced city in the western world, skyline is a sea of blue and green glass condos, Pacific Coast Mountains, temperate rainforests, Oceanic climate

Calgary: Oil centre, heart of cowboy culture, the Calgary stampede, skyline consisting of various styles of modern office buildings, prairies, dry climate, hours drive to the Rocky mountains

Montreal: 2nd largest French speaking city behind Paris, heart of French American/Quebecois culture, humid continental climate, World's largest comedy festival, World's largest Jazz festival

Each city feels like a different country with different demographics and all located in different geographic regions.

Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh etc. are all interesting and great, but not only are each geographically similar, they all look like smaller Londons (exception being Edinburg as it lacks the English feel of the other cities).

Unless you're British, or a non-Brit that is heavily infatuated with British culture then you can tell them apart but I personally think that their differences aren't as evident to foreigners compared with Canada's largest cities.
None of those qualities strike me as being particularly interesting. Vancouver has scenery, but that isn't part of the city itself - it is just lucky to be near mountains. Access to beautiful scenery is easy in most British cities, such as Sheffield and Glasgow - Sheffield even has a national park within its city borders! Not as dramatic as Vancouver, but still an appealing quality I guess. I just think Canadian cities - the western ones anyway, are too modern and lack the intriguing and very long histories of British cities. Manchester is a hub of art, media, football and music, but also excels in 'boring' areas like finance, and was a Roman settlement and even has Roman relics in the city centre. Liverpool is completely different to Manchester, for example, , it developed as a port city and has a completely different architectural style - Liverpool has been influenced by New York a lot, and has itself influenced other cities - look at Shanghai's historic waterfront and compare it to Liverpool - there are similarities, and it isn't coincidence - it is a testimony to the vast influence and importance Liverpool had, handling most of the world's cargo, and the same is true for Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham which were at the epicentre of the industrial revolution, or Glasgow, which supplied most of the world with ships.
