Meh, as if Chinese, Arabs, Africans, Aztecs, Native Americans...were all happy-go-lucky peace-loving hippies. Atrocities were and are a very human thing, even before the Europeans started to conquer the world.

But as long as people were less advanced the consequences of their atrocities were not nearly as severe.

One might think that sooner or later everybody realizes that for some time now countries and their borders have been defined and registered by the UN and similar institutions (not always in a fair and good way, but still). There is nothing left to grab as 1) every piece of land already belongs to some country and 2) land grabs will no longer be accepted, but instead be sanctioned.

Thinking about it, maybe that is why there is so much manipulation now. The grabbing is indirect, via messing up existing countries, manipulating politicians and decision makers, etc.

I would beg different, speaking about the Tatar-Mongol invasion of Russia for example.

GDP per capita is a useless statistic... the numbers are heavily skewered by the highest percentile brackets if we're talking about the middle-class. and since we all know the GOP is just obsessed with helping the middle class (or at least they claim to be) let's look at a real breakdown.

I am not an economist, merely an educated person who can see through the agenda of right-wing economists.

(all data from wikipedia)

The U.S. has 442 billionaires. ALL OF EUROPE has 404 billionaires. While I can't crunch the numbers excluding those respective population segments, I will say that knowing this fact, any enlightened person would be more inclined to look at
MEDIAN GDP per capita. If you don't know what median means, look it up.

Country Median income (US$, nominal) Year
Norway 52,575 2010
Luxembourg47,936 2010
Switzerland 47,237 2009
Denmark 39,742 2010
Australia 38,570 2010
Canada 34,929 2010
Sweden 31,878 2010
Finland 31,482 2010
Austria 31,357 2010
Ireland 30,287 2009
Belgium 29,221 2010
Netherlands 29,155 2010
United States 29,056 2010
France 27,835 2010
Iceland 27,748 2010

So that's that - America is 13th - behind it's new-world siblings Canada and Australia, and behind pretty much all the European countries which aren't stifled by rampant corruption. I've visited many of these countries and I'd say, unlike GDP per capita, this list actually reflects the reality on the ground.

Poor right-wingers, always being misled by their plutocratic intelligencia.

Yeah I can still guarantee you more Mexicans are living in America than Americans living in Mexico, the reason why things are picking up for higher immigration from America to Mexico is NOT because Mexico is doing better but because of their beautiful resorts and beaches, the baby boomers are about at that age where they are retiring, a lot of them go to Mexico.

Plus, a country doesn't have to be rich just because it is full of natural resources. Look at the Congo. Conversely, countries without such resources can do just fine (Germany, Switzerland, etc.). Humans are the most important resource, after all.
Nor do we want our continent to be ruined by fracking.

I see it the other way round, the US is a construct, continents were there before there were countries. Europe has always been a continent, yet it has become the foundation of western civilization.
The EU is a construct, yes, just like the US. But Europeans belong to countries first of all, the EU is not important. It may go again one day, who knows. Doesn't really matter.
Unless you consider Russia in Europe, Europe would have much more oil, but I did hear recently America surpassed Russia in production of oil and gas. Yeah I completely agree about the resources and the economy, just because America is surpassing Russia doesn't mean America is doing better economically, I mean it is still doing better than before but not really because of the oil and gas.

I am not saying these numbers are incorrect I am just saying you also have to take in the cost of living in each country, the USA by far is the cheapest country to live out of all of these countries, lowest taxes, low shopping, low everything besides healthcare The smaller the country the higher it is, the more immigration the higher it is.

Thanks to the US, modern Europe exists.
The blueprints of the current EEC are American....
Germans had another blueprint for Europe, but it was rather exclusive, you know.
And please, don't blame you know who.
Well America defiantly isn't a violent teenager with a gun, have these people ever been to third world countries? Go to Africa and you see little kids holding guns just everywhere, I went their to do some mission work in high school and its nuts. But saying the USA is the reason why modern Europe exists is kind of silly...I mean all countries contributed to modern age, well some more than others, America defiantly helped but other countries helped too.
