I've lived in Thailand. I was thinking about Portland, but then I looked at their property taxes and crossed that place off my list. They can find some other sucker to pay their bills.

Anyway, Thailand is OK.

I prefer Asia in general, so I guess Thailand. But I wouldn't want to move to either.

Politcally unstable, insurgency in the south, poor and unequal distribution of wealth and simply developing are the reasons for not chosing Thailand.

Poland is right next to the developed western countries and is already quite developed before the end of cold war

You don't need to live in the 3 most Southern provinces of Thailand, everywhere North of Hat Yai is perfectly safe.

(ouups sorry) I 've never been to Poland, I 've lived very close (Berlin) and I know many Poles in my country (France).
I get along fine with Poles I must say. So if it weren't the climate problem, it would be kind of a moot point.

That's a tough one, they both offer a lot but are entirely different. I guess if I had to decide on just one today it would be Poland.
