For the US, it's difficult to say which tree represents the entire nation as it varies a lot by region.

In the northeast, it would likely be one of those colorful fall trees I know nothing about. In the southeast, Cypress. Rocky Mountain region, especially around Colorado, Aspen. Northern Rockies, Lodge-pole Pine. Pacific Northwest, Douglas Fir. Northern California, Redwood but Oaks as well. Southern CA deserts, Joshua Trees. Arizona, Saguaros.
