Most bars do not sell $4 Coronas in NY. You will pay $6-8 or so on average.
You said you were there in 2011. I'm guessing you're also implying things should be more expensive since you talked about high prices and said "and that was in 2011". The exchange rate in 2011 was 75-85 yen/USD (75-85 yen was equal to 1 US dollar). At the time of this post, it's 113 yen to a dollar, so the weak yen/strong dollar also makes things cheaper on top of all this. Also, it's well known that Japan has had a big problem with deflation - not inflation.
They still did in October, 2011.
Not remember what the $ did in that time but i got 1000 yen for 8.80 euro in May, 2011.
Now 1000 yen = 8.26 euro, cheaper but still not by a lot imo.
I got there in 2012. They weren't rising so rapidly as you're suggesting back then. $4 beers on average in NY? Get real. You go out to most bars at night and you will pay more.
I think eating out in Japan isn't that expensive in general. Of course if you go to high end restaurants it'd be very expensive, but a simple meal is usually quite a bargain. It's fairly easy to find a place with ok food for just 8 USD or something, though the weak yen definitely plays a part in this. It's even cheaper if you just get banto from a supermarket or go to a place without a seat. Shopping is also pretty reasonable in Japan.
The most expensive part about Japan is the transportation imo... a bus/metro ride could be easily above 200 yen, but it is manageable as you can get like a daily ticket and then travel as much as you want. The taxi is the ****ing worst, quite possibly the most expensive in the entire world.

In strip clubs they were $10 yes but in regular bars i never paid more than $4.50.

Beers were not and are not $4 on average in NY. That is false. Because maybe you went in one place that had a special or 2 for 1 doesn't mean everyone did or does. Beers are not $4, nor were they in 2011. I can't believe you're debating such a thing. $4 beers are even on the cheap end in small towns in the southern US.

I'm not debating, i just tell you about my experiences.
I paid $3.25 (well my dad did since you can't buy it yourself if your under 21 in the U.S.) for a beer on International Drive, Orlando in 2008.

In Orlando? There's a pretty massive price difference between Orlando and NYC.
Have you been basing your NYC numbers using experiences in Orlando?

Yes! I got into Haneda once right as the last train was leaving and had to take a cab. It was over $100 for me to get from there back to shinjuku.
