Rent is so high in the US. I am stunned. Prices at the convenience store and groceries here are eye popping. I just got back from living in South East Asia for a number of years and paid just $100 a month for a nice little studio apartment(brand new). There are even places for $30 a month over there. In the US, I cannot even find a ghetto apartment for less than $400 and I live in Ohio where the rent is dirt cheap. When I read about how much people from NYC and these expensive places are paying for rent I just cringe. They are really suffering. lol.

Nope. But that's the beauty of it all. I'm not competing with other overpaid nitwits from the West for a limited amount of real estate.

Wow. I didn't know all that.

I could live like a king/queen in Southeast Asia on my monthly pay.

Not really. A US$100/month apartment is usually pretty basic. SE Asia can be cheap, but not as cheap as some people let on. I actually spend around the same amount in SE Asia as I do in the US.

Where exactly in SE are you talking about? Property prices in Singapore are hideously expensive

My mortgage + property taxes are $3000 per month. But this is for a 4-bedroom house near Washington DC.
